AD9956 is Analog Devices’ newest Agiler synthesizer. The device is comprised of DDS and PLL circuitry. The DDS features a 14bit DAC operating at up to 400MSPS and a 48bit frequency tuning word (FTW). The PLL circuitry includes a phase frequency detector with saleable 200MHz inputs (divider inputs operate up to 655MHz) and digital control over the charge pump current. The device also includes a 655MHz CML-mode PECL-compliant driver with programmable slew rates. Application includes agile LO frequency synthesis, FM chirp source for radar and scanning systems, automotive radars, test and measurement equipment, acousto-optic device drivers.

- Input voltage levels range from 200 to 600mV p-p (AVDD=DVDD=1.8V ± 5%, DVDD-I/O=CP-VDD=3.3V ± 5%)
- Output duty cycle range from 42 to 58% (AVDD=DVDD=1.8V ± 5%, DVDD-I/O=CP-VDD=3.3V ± 5%)
- 48-lead LFCSP package, temperature range from -40°C to +125°C
