ADMV4530 is a dual-mode, Ka band upconverter with integrated fractional-N PLL and VCO. This is a highly integrated upconverter with an in phase/quadrature (I/Q) mixer that is ideally suited for next generation Ka band satellite communications. An integrated low phase noise, fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) with a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and internal 2× multiplier generate the necessary on-chip local oscillator signal for the I/Q mixer, eliminating the need for external frequency synthesis. The VCO uses an internal autocalibration routine that allows the PLL to select the necessary settings and locks in approximately 10µs. The single-ended reference input to the PLL operates up to 500MHz and features internal reference dividers and a multiplier for added flexibility. Applications include satellite communication, point to point microwave communication.
- Output frequency range from 27 to 31GHz (I/Q frequency = 25MHz, TA = 25°C)
- Two up conversion modes, direct up conversion from differential baseband I/Q (I/Q mode)
- Single upper sideband up conversion (IF mode), programmable automatic IF gain control
- 500MHz typical 1dB bandwidth (Per differential I and Q inputs)
- 2GHz to 3GHz input frequency range (IF mode)
- Matched 50 ohm -single-ended RF output, matched 50 ohm-single-ended IF input
- Programmable baseband I/Q common mode-voltage
- Sideband rejection and carrier feedthrough optimization
- 70dB typical dynamic range (VCTR-RF and VCTR-IF combined dynamic range)
- 40 terminal LGA package, operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
