MAX490ESA+T

MAX490ESA+T is a full duplex, low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS422 communication. This transceiver draws between 120µA and 500µA of supply current when unloaded or fully loaded with disabled drivers. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is an open circuit. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485 transceivers, low-power RS-422 transceivers, level translators, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, and industrial-control local area networks.

• 300μA typ quiescent current at (VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Input current is ±2µA maximum at (VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Receiver short-circuit current is 95mA maximum at (0V ≤ VO ≤ VCC)
• Receiver input hysteresis is 70mV typical at (VCM = 0V, VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Driver rise or fall time is 15ns typical at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
• Differential receiver skew is 13ns typical at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
• 8-lead SO package
